(PIT) Y.THIGPEN 26 YD PASS FROM M.TOMZAK (2PT FAILED)ĭespite being held in check throughout the 1st half the 98 Minnesota Vikings explosive air attack came up big in the 2nd half to put away the 92 Dallas Cowboys and advance to the Division round of the playoffs. On Special teams Ravens kicker Matt Stover despite having an attempt blocked in the 1st half bounced back and connected on FG's of 53, 46 & 38 yards all in the 2nd half. Tomzak was trying to deliver a quick out pass to WR Andre Hastings but Starks read the play perfect and beat his man to the spot delivering the final knockout blow to the Steelers chances. With the Ravens leading 23-15 at 2:59 remaining in the 4th QTR Starks once again came up big. The Ravens put together a 10 play, 81 yard drive at the start of the 3rd QTR with Priest Holmes scoring on a 8 yard TD run at the 4:55 mark which gave them a 14 -9 lead. On a 2nd & 11 from the Ravens 26 yard line Mike Tomzak forced a pass into the end zone looking for Yancey Thigpen and Starks jumped in front of Thigpen making a beautiful play on the ball. Starks 1st INT came as the Steelers were leading 9-7 in the 2nd QTR and threatening to score, This game was no different as the defense came up with two huge INT's both by DB Duane Starks. The Ravens continued to rely on their stellar defense and special teams as they have all year to put teams away. For the 2nd consecutive week the 2000 Baltimore Ravens knocked off the 1996 Pittsburgh Steelers allowing them to advance into next weeks divisional playoffs.
